About us

We built Host² because we needed it.

We're an AI company based in Lisbon, Portugal, with decades of experience in machine learning and AI. We're also hosts, with several short-term rentals of our own. Host² is where those two parts of our lives meet.

Two jobs, one phone

We love hosting: welcoming people into a house we care about and pointing them to the places we love. But hosting well is a job of its own.

Guests arrive and need to get in, find the Wi-Fi and park. They ask how the hob works and what's open for dinner tonight. The cleaner needs to know who's leaving, who's arriving and when the house is free. And someone has to check the house is ready before the next guests turn up.

For a long time, that someone was us.

We have kids. Onboarding guests and coordinating cleanings didn't fit our lives with them.

Messages arrived at bedtime, on the school run, in the middle of family weekends. Answering fast meant not being present at home. Answering late meant guests waiting for something as simple as the hob.

So we built an agent

When we looked at our own hosting the way we look at any AI problem, we saw that most of those messages already had answers: in the house guide, in an appliance manual, in the calendar, or in our heads.

So we built an agent that runs the three loops of every booking for us: check-in and check-out, the guest's stay and the cleaning. It answers from our own documents, shows where each answer came from, says so when it doesn't know, and brings us in only when it really matters.

What we believe

  • AI should know its limits. An agent that invents house rules is worse than no agent at all.
  • The host stays in charge. You see every conversation and can step in at any moment.
  • Privacy is part of the product. Guests see only their own booking, and your documents stay private to your house.
  • You should only pay when you get paid. A small fee per completed stay, and nothing in a month without bookings.
  • Hosting should fit around your life, not the other way around.

How we're rolling out

Host² already works. We're opening it slowly, a few hosts at a time, so we can help each one set up properly. Seats are limited and go first come, first served. Early adopters keep €2 for every booking, for two years.
